Until about 2000, the AG was responsible for target archery, thrown weapons, and the archery portions of combat archery. All combat archery authorization remained with the Earl Marshal but they didn't want to bother with the archery aspects. The lines do remain blurred but the default response is no longer "go talk to the archers" who couldn't assist with actual combat training.
 
Until 2025, the AG was responsible for target archery and thrown weapons. In 2025, the thrown weapons community shifted to a separate leadership under the Thrown Weapons General. The position of "Captain of Throwers" was created in 2018 by then AG Lyssa to help groups with no archery interest create programs in their groups without needing to learn skills they wouldn't use and become archery marshals. With the community reorganization, both COA and COT exist in groups as their community interest and participation support.

Summary

The Archer General is the kingdom archery officer responsible for safety, training, reporting, and communication.
