Introduction

Aife Cham ingen Saerbrethaig (name still being approved) is the current HoH of Bears Gate. She is dedicated to supporting newcomers' transition into the game, and introducing college students and other young people to the SCA. Her interests in the SCA include: nalbinding, hand sewing, herbal medicine, scribal, bardic (with other people typically), MOL-ing, and generally just helping out where she can.

Persona

Aife lives in Viking-age Dublin in the 11th century. She is a Norse-Gael, born to an Irish father and a Nordic mother. Her daily life reflects a blend of these two cultures, shaped by the busy port city where trade, language, and customs mix easily.

As a woman, her responsibilities center on the household and wider community. She has knowledge of healing and herbal remedies, learned through family tradition and experience, and is often called upon to help with illness, injury, or childbirth. This role places her in contact with many people and gives her a quiet but important position within her neighborhood.

She follows Christian practices, as much of Dublin does at this time, but older pagan traditions still influence her beliefs and household customs. This mixture is ordinary in her world, reflecting a society in transition rather than one divided by strict boundaries.
