Overview

The Golden Paw of Fontaine (GPF) was a Barony-level non-armigerous award recognizing extraordinary skill and dedication in the art of Rapier. Recipients are entitled to bear the badge of the Order and use the post-nominal letters GPF. The award was established by the Constitution for the Order of the Golden Paw on December 18, A.S. XXXVIII (2004) by Duncan, Baron of Fontaine dans Sable and Mary, Baroness of Fontaine dans Sable, attested by Rowland McCain, Black Fountain Pursuivant.

Purpose and Recognition

The Golden Paw honored those who demonstrated exceptional skill and assiduous dedication in Rapier combat. Recipients are styled as Companions of the Order of the Golden Paw and are recognized for both martial prowess and faithful service to the Barony.

Precedence

This award was non-armigerous and did not confer precedence.

Badge and Regalia

The insignia of the Order consists of a medallion bearing the badge of the Order:

Azure, a lion’s gambe Or bendwise armed and distilling gouttes gules, an orle of fleurs-de-lis points to center argent.

Recipients are entitled to wear this badge as a symbol of their achievement in Rapier combat.
