Gatekeeper

Gatekeeper is the official newsletter of the Barony of Unser Hafen in the Kingdom of the Outlands. Released monthly, it serves as the barony’s primary source of communication, providing event announcements, officer updates, artwork, educational articles, and other content relevant to the populace of Unser Hafen and the greater SCA community.

Overview

Gatekeeper is produced by the Chronicler of Unser Hafen and distributed digitally to members of the barony. It includes official announcements as well as creative and informative contributions from members of the populace. Anyone is welcome to submit content, and the newsletter often features original art, poems, event photos, how-to guides, and musings on medieval life.

Regular features may include:

  • Upcoming event announcements and flyers
  • Minutes or summaries from baronial meetings
  • Letters from the Baronage and Officers
  • Arts & Sciences highlights
  • Recipes, stories, or medieval miscellany
  • Photos and artwork from recent events
  • Calls for volunteers and ongoing projects

History

The newsletter was originally known as The Tosspot.[1] The name was officially changed to Gatekeeper in **January 2016**, as recorded in the barony’s newsletter archive.[2]

The new name better reflects the newsletter’s formal role as an information gate between baronial leadership and the populace, while maintaining Unser Hafen’s distinctive personality.

Publication and Access

Gatekeeper is typically released once per month and archived by the baronial chronicler. Copies are distributed to local members and made available digitally via baronial communication channels. Physical copies may occasionally appear at local events or demos, depending on the chronicler's discretion.
