Overview
The Order of the Hedgehog of Caer Galen (UCG) is a Barony-level non-armigerous award given to youths under sixteen years of age who have shown themselves to be an asset to the Barony. The order was formerly known as the Foal of Caer Galen, but the name was rejected by the College of Heralds. In honor of the premier recipient, whose personal arms included a hedgehog, the award's name was changed with their permission.
The Order was formally chartered on May 9, A.S. L (2015) by King Tam and Queen Kathryn of the Outlands, with the charter attested by Randal Carrick, White Stag Principal Herald. The premier recipient was Avalon Dubois.
Purpose and Recognition
The Order of the Hedgehog recognizes youth who are exemplary in their learning, manners, and industry. Recipients are styled as Urchins of Caer Galen and may use the post-nominal letters UCG.
This is a non-armigerous award, meaning it does not grant the right to bear arms.

Unto all who come by these letters present do We, __________ and __________, Baron and Baroness of Caer Galen send Greetings.
We have seen that ________ has proven [himself/herself/themselves] exemplary in [his/her/their] learning, manners, and industry among the youth of Our Barony. We are therefore minded this day to admit [him/her] to the Order of the Hedgehog of Caer Galen. They are henceforth known as one of the Urchins of Caer Galen. Let them declare their urchinhood to all by bearing the badge of the order, (Fieldless), a hedgehog ermine.
