Poignard Noir of Caer Galen
Overview
The Poignard Noir of Caer Galen (BPN) is a Barony-level non-armigerous award given for outstanding personal and discreet service to the Coronet (Baron and Baroness) that goes above and beyond what is normally expected.
The award's origin is rooted in a specific need for discretion. It was created to honor individuals who handle internal issues or provide support in a manner that is helpful but does not draw significant public attention. Its name, which translates to "Black Dagger," reflects this discreet nature.
The Order was formally chartered on April 18, A.S. XLIX (2015) by King Hrothgar and Queen Ingridr of the Outlands, with the charter attested by Randal Carrick, White Stag Principal Herald. The premier recipient was Ian of Nightsgate.
Purpose and Recognition
The Poignard Noir recognizes service that is often performed quietly and behind the scenes, yet is instrumental to the affairs of the Barony and its Coronet. Recipients are styled as Bearers of the Poignard Noir and may use the post-nominal letters B.P.N..
This is a non-armigerous award, meaning it does not grant the right to bear arms.
Badge and Regalia
Members of the Order may bear the registered badge:
Fieldless, a dagger bendwise sinister sable.
Recipients also receive a medallion or other rendition of the badge.
