Defender of Chivalry

Overview

The Defender of Chivalry is a kingdom champion position selected by the Queen from among the entrants in the Cut and Thrust Champion tournament held on the day following Coronation. The position recognizes a fighter who demonstrates exceptional virtues of honor and chivalry.

History

The position was created by Ingriðr to honor the Cut and Thrust community and its fighters, while also balancing the kingdom's champion retinue. The Defender of Chivalry provides a chivalric counterpart to the tournament champions, giving the heavy weapons, rapier, and Cut and Thrust communities each both a winning champion and a champion selected for their chivalric qualities.

The role went unnamed until the Coronation of Mordygan III and Ymanie II when it was announced that it would be dubbed the Defender of Chivalry.
