Chancellor of the Exchequer
Overview
The Chancellor of the Exchequer is the chief financial officer of the Kingdom of the Outlands. Much like in medieval days, the Exchequer is responsible for balancing the books — though digital record-keeping makes the task far easier today. Because the SCA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization, accurate bookkeeping, transparent reporting, and adherence to financial policy are essential.
The Kingdom Exchequer oversees financial activity within the kingdom, supports local branch exchequers, maintains compliance with Society and modern legal requirements, and ensures the protection of the Society’s tax-exempt status. The office manages budgets, reviews reports, coordinates with the Financial Committee, and provides guidance and training to branch exchequers.

Overview of Responsibilities
Maintaining accurate financial records for the Kingdom.
Receiving, disbursing, and tracking funds according to Society and Kingdom financial policy.
Overseeing budgets, event financials, and annual reporting (including the Doomsday Report).
Managing non-cash assets such as Kingdom regalia.
Training and supporting branch exchequers.
Ensuring compliance with Society Financial Policy, Kingdom Law, and IRS requirements.
Coordinating with the Kingdom Financial Committee.
Appointing and supervising deputies, including regional deputies, the Chamberlain, NMR Deputy, and PayPal Deputy.
