In 2015, the branch was transferred from the Kingdom of Artemisia to the Outlands.

Activities and Events

The shire is active in community education and outreach, regularly participating in public demonstrations and local events.

The Mor You Know

A day of classes and demonstrations focused on medieval and Viking Age arts. Past sessions have included instruction in Viking bone flute, leather tooling, Younger Futhark runes, and illumination techniques. Rapier practice is also offered, depending on marshal availability.

Valhalla Viking Festival

A partnership event with the Garfield County Public Library, providing demonstrations on Viking-era crafts, instruments, clothing, and lifestyle.

Border Skirmish / Stinking Desert War

Stinking Desert War was a recurring war event hosted by the Shire of Draca Mor. It originated as a border skirmish between Draca Mor and the neighboring Shire of Dael Beorht. The event is themed around a dragon said to dwell in the desert wastes between the two groups. Traditionally, the losing side is tasked with "cleaning up after the dragon" for the following year. The event hosted both martial and arts & science events.

Draca Morian Brouhaha

First held in 2007. Celebrated in August as the shire’s birthday party, during which the Defenders of the Shire are chosen. Activities included camping, the “Quest for the Dragon’s Egg,” heavy tourneys and melees, an arts and sciences competition, and a donation-based silent auction.

Harvest Festival

Held in October, originally known as the “Beer, Wine, and Mead Fest.” Following changes in SCA Corpora, the name was changed. The event focuses on celebrating the harvest with food, drink, and activities.

Arabian Nights

Held at Kane Springs Campground in Moab, Utah, with Middle Eastern–themed activities, including fighting scenarios, A&S classes, thrown weapons, a hafla, and sometimes camel rides.

S.T.A.G. (Summer Tournament and Games)

A summer event that has included tournaments in heavy and rapier combat, an arts and sciences competition, archery, period games, A&S classes, and a bardic feast.

Draca Morian Weekend

A local gathering with feasting and relaxation, often hosted on the property of Master William the Sinister.
