Scorpion's Sting of al-Barran
The Order of the Scorpion's Sting of al-Barran (CSS) is a Barony-level Award of Arms in the Barony of al-Barran (part of the Kingdom of the Outlands). It is awarded to those who have demonstrated exceptional abilities in the fighting arts, both in the use and teaching of traditional SCA-style weaponry.
This award was chartered on the 25th day of July, A.S. XXXIII (1998), by Baron Kragon and Baroness Sarah of al-Barran, with the charter also signed by King Hrothger II and Queen Madigan of the Outlands. Pendar the Bard served as White Stag Principal Herald at the time.
Purpose and Recognition
Recipients of this award are recognized for their exceptional martial skills and their honorable conduct on and off the field. This honor is given to individuals who excel in the fighting arts, displaying not only valor in combat but also dedication to teaching others, thereby enriching the martial community of the barony.
A Companion of this Order is entitled to use the post-nominal letters [CSS] after their name.
Precedence
This Order carries the precedence of an Award of Arms.
Badge
- (Fieldless) A scorpion statant brandishing a scimitar, within an annulet Or.
Recipients are entitled to wear the badge of the Order and appropriate regalia.

- Equity wills and reason ordains that fighters, virtuous and of noble courage, be for their merits by renown, rewarded. Whereas ________ has long pursued feats of arms and as well in this and in other matters has carried [himself/herself/themselves] valiantly and honorably governed [himself/herself/themselves] so that [he/she/they] has well deserved and is worthy that
