Overview

The College of Three Spires was a College in the Barony of Caerthe, located on the Auraria Campus of Metropolitan State College of Denver. Three Spires was also associated with the University of Colorado at Denver, and the Community College of Denver.

History

The group originally formed under the name Students for Creative Anachronism of Auraria Campus (SCA-AC), with a constitution recognized through the Office of Student Life at Metropolitan State College of Denver. The purpose of the group was to research and recreate aspects of the Middle Ages within the Auraria Campus community through events, demos, workshops, and combat practices.

By early 2006, the group began organizing regular activities and participating in the broader life of the Barony of Caerthe. On November 7, 2006, the group's name and device were officially registered with the College of Heralds. As of January 6, 2007, the College of Three Spires was recognized as a full-status group within the Kingdom of the Outlands.

As of December 2013, the College of Three Spires was no longer active. A message posted to the group's website stated:

The College of Three Spires is not currently active.

Please visit the Barony of Caerthe for information regarding SCA, Inc. activities in the area.

Name and Heraldry

The name "College of Three Spires" references the Denver skyline, notably the spires visible from the Auraria campus. The group's name and device passed Laurel in November 2006.

Activities

The College hosted a variety of activities for students and SCA members, including:

  • Armored combat practices at the campus flagpole (notably documented in spring 2004)
  • Rapier combat and martial activities
  • Arts and Sciences workshops and demos
  • Participation in events such as Yule and Fighters Collegium
  • Outreach to the campus community and recruitment

Constitution

The College operated under a constitution that outlined its relationship to the SCA, the Kingdom of the Outlands, and the student government of MSCD. Officers included:

  • Seneschal (President)
  • Deputy Seneschal (Vice President)
  • Exchequer (Treasurer)
  • Secretary
  • Knight Marshal
  • Minister of Arts and Sciences
  • Rapier Marshal
  • Herald

Only dues-paying members of the SCA were eligible to hold SCA offices, and certain officer roles were restricted to MSCD students in compliance with campus rules.
